Armed Forces: 11 takfiris killed in Sinai in past 4 days

CAIRO – 27 February 2018: The Armed Forces have killed 11 dangerous takfiris over the past four days within the course of the Comprehensive Operation Sinai 2018.

In an 8-minute video statement posted on Tuesday on the official Facebook page of the military spokesperson Tamer el-Refaie, the Armed Forces said that several targets and hideouts of terrorists were also destroyed.





Based on accurate information about the targets, artillery shelling was launched on 285 hideouts used to store weapons and ammunition. Air forces also managed to destroy 20 targets, and two car bombs.

As part of the operation, the forces thwarted suicide attacks by extremists, arrested four armed takfiris wearing explosive belts and outfits similar to the armed forces’ uniform. The video screened footages of killed militants and tanks launching bombings on targets in Sinai.

A weapon storage buried under the sand was discovered, and a total of 300 trenches and weapon storages were destroyed.

The operation that takes place in different areas across the Sinai Peninsula, managed to seize 18 vehicles, damage 170 motorbikes without license plates as well as 36 farms of marijuana.

The full-scale offensive also arrested 341 criminals and over 1,750 kgs of drugs, while released 1,447 individuals who were proved uninvolved in terror attacks.

In both the Red and Mediterranean seas, the Egyptian and French marine units took part in a huge naval maneuver and drillings. The exercise comes as part of the Egyptian naval forces’ annual exercise plan under the name “Cleopatra 2018.”

The statement further said that the operation seized attempts to smuggle amounts of weapons on the western borders of the country, stopped 419 unregistered migrants of different nationalities who illegally infiltrated through the borders, and destroyed a number of SUVs used by terror groups.

A total of 600 security patrols are being deployed across governorates to maintain security and safety. The campaign also continues providing citizens of North Sinai with all necessary food items and all living needs.

The statement reiterated armed forces and police's persistence to eradicate the roots of terrorism and achieve security and stability for the great Egyptian people.
