CAIRO - 17 January 2018: Belarus Ambassador in Cairo Sergei Rachkov said his country's political leadership is deeply interested in boosting ties with Egypt in view of a prospective visit of President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi to the European state.

Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasized during a meeting with Egyptian Ambassador Ihab Ahmed Talaat the "special ties binding the two countries," Rachkov told MENA on Wednesday.

The Belarus president considers President Sisi as a friend, the diplomat said.

Also, Chairman of the House of Representatives of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko stressed during a meeting with the Egyptian ambassador keenness on fostering cooperation with the Egyptian parliament, the ambassador said.

He expected the Belarus and Egyptian parliaments to sign a cooperation deal soon.

He said "Egypt is an important partner," stressing interest in enhancing amicable ties between the two countries.

Egypt and Belarus signed a number of cooperation deals during the Belarus president's visit to Egypt in January 2017.
