CAIRO: 16 April 2017: Repairing the Katameya butane gas pipeline is underway and is expected to resume operations by Monday, Petroleum Minister Tarek el-Molla said in a statement Sunday.

A fire that erupted yesterday in a pipeline that transports petroleum products between Suez and Katameya on the entrance of Road 90, in Cairo’s upscale Tagammu el-Khames neighborhood, has cut off gas from other pipes in the area. Molla said that Katameya’s butane needs have been met via the butane gas strategic stock.

The fire left one dead and 16 injured.
