CAIRO – 16 April 2017: Member of Parliament Atef Abdel Gawad called to increase the financial allocations to the Interior Ministry in the new state budget to help it fight terrorism, he said in a Sunday statement.

Abdel Gawad said that the ministry needs to install security cameras in the country’s main squares as well as cars equipped with modern devices, used by police forces in developed countries, which will help them follow criminals.

He further clarified to direct a part of the budget to the Police Academy in order to increase the number of students in the academy, which in turn will help the ministry increase the number of officers working for it.

The MP’s demands come on the back of the attacks that hit two Coptic churches in Alexandria and Tanta on Palm Sunday, leaving at least 45 people dead.
