CAIRO – 1 January 2018: Egypt is expected to see cold weather on Tuesday, as the high temperature in Cairo is expected to be only 19 degrees, while the low temperature could reach 11 degrees, the Egyptian Meteorological Authority stated on Saturday.
Watery fog will continue to develop during the morning in the northern parts of the country to northern Upper Egypt, the statement added, noting that this condition could cause people to not be able to see the streets clearly.
Low and medium clouds will also appear on the North Coast, with rain expected. Alexandria’s high temperature will be 19 degrees, and the low temperature will be 12 degrees.
Due to this condition, the government is worried about the idea of suffering from another flood like the one civilians suffered from in 2015. At that time, families reportedly received new housing units after rainwater accumulated in the streets of the city in November 2015 and swept into their homes.
This proves that Alexandria was the most affected governorate in a wave of weather change across the country in 2015, with water inundating its streets and covering cars and trees.
Even though evidence shows that storms may take place, meteorological experts think that the weather will be mild on Tuesday. It will be warm in southern Upper Egypt, cold during the beginning of the night and extremely cold by the end of the night.
