CAIRO – 24 December 2017:Cairo governorate is preparing for Christmas festivities through a number of measures, raising the state of emergency across all sectors.

Egypt Today presents 10 measures taken by the governorate to ready itself for the celebrations of Christmas:

1. Raising the state of emergency across all sectors, especially in service sectors.

2. Monitoring surveillance cameras, especially those around churches and places of Coptic worship.

3. Providing additional buses of the Public Transport Authority around churches and places of worship during the holidays.

4. Intensive coordination with the police to secure Christmas celebrations.

5. Providing 25 units of civil protection to detect explosives in the vicinity of churches.

6. Suspending vacations for public park workers from December 24 to January 9.

7. Opening public parks free of charge on January 7 to all citizens.

8. A 50% discount on river bus tickets on Christmas day.

9. Lifting the state of emergency in the North and South Cairo Electricity Distribution Company during Christmas.

10. Supplying medical conveys and ambulances in places of celebration and worship.
