RAMALLAH - 21 December 2017: Spokesman For the Palestinian Health Ministry Osama el Naggar said on Thursday clashes between the Palestinian youths and Israeli occupation forces have left around 11 people killed and more than 3300 others injured in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank since US President Donald Trump announced his decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital on December 6.

Interviewed by "Voice of Palestine" Radio, Naggar said 400 of the injured have been shot by live bullets, while six are still receiving treatment in the ICU.

The US vetoed an Egyptian-drafted resolution at the UN Security Council to reject Trump's decision.

Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyadh el Maliki called on the UN General Assembly (UNGA) to convene an urgent meeting after the US veto.

He said the resolution, vetoed by the US, was a chance for Washington to backtrack on its illegal position which contradicts with the relevant UN Convention as well as the international laws.

Unfortunately the US has opted for the wrong side and aligned itself with oppression and colonialism of the Israeli occupation which undermines the stability of the Middle East region and the World, he added.

Maliki also called on Washington to reconsider its position and shoulder its responsibilities towards the Middle East.

Though the US decision would not change the status of the holy city, but undoubtedly it would compromise the US position as a peace broker, he said.
