Abdel Ghaffar meets EU Commissioner to promote political relations

CAIRO - 16 December 2017: Minister of Interior Magdy Abdel Ghaffar met Saturday with EU Commissioner for Migration, Home Affairs and Citizenship Dimitris Avramopoulos.

Abdel Ghaffar stressed on the importance of reaching political solutions to conflicts in the world to reduce the flow of migrants and asylum seekers, who cause economic and social pressure for countries hosting them.

The meeting touched on cooperation between the ministry and EU security and anti-illegal immigration agencies in light of security challenges in the Middle East.

The minister welcomed security coordination and cooperation with relevant EU bodies, especially in terms of information exchange in terrorism and illegal immigration issues.

Abdel Ghaffar informed the EU official on the ministry’s strategy to combat crime and illegal immigration.
