CAIRO – 12 December 2017: Defense Minister Sidky Sobhy arrived in Cyprus capital Nicosia on Tuesday upon the invitation of his Cypriot counterpart Christoforos Fokaides for a visit that will last for few days.

The minister will hold talks with senior Cypriot officials on strengthening bilateral relations, and military cooperation between the armed forces of both countries in different domains.

President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi had previously held a two-day visit to Cyprus where the fifth trilateral Summit between Cyprus, Greece, and Egypt took place with Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades, and Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras.

Sisi stressed that the summit focused on promoting common economic cooperation, particularly in the fields of energy and recycling, to provide job opportunities for the youth and achieve sustainable development.

In November 2014, Cyprus, Greece, and Egypt launched a tripartite cooperation committee.
