Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry with Saudi counterpart Adel al-Jubeir - YOUM7 (Archive)
CAIRO - 1 April 2017: Egypt and Saudi Arabia’s foreign ministers may meet in Cairo soon to discuss bilateral relations and regional issues, according to a Friday statement from the Egyptian Foreign Ministry.
Egyptian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ahmed Abu Zeid said in the statement that Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry had a phone call with his Saudi counterpart, Adel al-Jubeir, to discuss the bilateral relations following their leaders’ meeting last week on the sidelines of the Arab League summit in Amman, Jordan.
The ministers agreed to hold a round of political consultations in Cairo to discuss issues of interest to both countries, Abu Zeid added. Discussions will include preparations for Egyptian President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi’s visit to Saudi Arabia and the Saudi king’s expected visit to Egypt. The mutual visits were agreed upon on the sidelines of the Arab Summit, the statement added.
