CAIRO – 11 December 2017: The Japanese government will establish an international anti-terrorism center next summer to step up anti-terrorism measures ahead of the 2020 Olympic Games that are to be hosted in Tokyo, according to Kyodo News.

The center will include officials from 11 government entities, such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Police Agency. The officials will share information received by each entity in its work to analyze evidence of possible attacks in order to thwart them in advance.

The center will be set up according to a set of anti-terrorism guidelines approved by the government task force headed by Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga.
Suga also said in a press conference that the government will unite to push forward these measures.

The center will also work to prevent terrorists from planning any terrorist attacks by eliminating illegal private housing and urging internet cafe operators to verify the identities of people who frequent these cafes, as well as inspecting airports periodically.
