CAIRO – 7 December 2017: Kuwaiti authorities arrested the Kuwaiti citizen who assaulted an Egyptian expat in his workplace following a dispute over repairing the motorcycle belonging to the former, Khaled Rizk, the deputy of the foreign minister for consular affairs and Egyptians abroad stated.

Rizk added that the Egyptian consulate in Kuwait is eagerly following up on the investigations launched regarding the matter, praising efforts of the Kuwaiti authorities in speeding up the process to deal with the incident and arrest of the perpetrator.

Earlier on Thursday, the Minister of Immigration and Egyptian Expatriate Affairs, Nabila Makram, traveled to Kuwait to check on the Egyptian expat’s health condition.

A viral video showed the Egyptian citizen being beaten by a Kuwaiti national in Kuwait City on Tuesday, arousing public anger in Egypt.

The expat in question, Waheed Mahmoud Rifai, is a shop attendant in Kuwait, who was brutally beaten by a Kuwaiti citizen until he fainted. Rifai was then taken to Al-Sabah hospital.
