CAIRO - 6 December 2017: Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Aboul Gheit discussed the Arab tourism sector with Prince Sultan bin Salman, head of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTH) on Wednesday, according to the Arab League’s spokesman Mahmoud Afifi in a statement.

Aboul Gheit called for working to overcome the obstacles and challenges facing the Arab tourism sector; as a result of armed conflicts, terrorism and tensions in the region, tourism to the Middle East is low. He asked for the full support of the Council of Tourism Ministers and the Arab joint labor organizations and institutions working in this field.

This meeting came during the inaugural session of the 20th Arab Tourist Ministerial Council which started on Wednesday.

The meeting also discussed the most significant efforts taken to develop the tourism sector in the Arab countries by encouraging inter-Arab and foreign tourism to the Arab countries.

On Wednesday, the 20th session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Tourism kicked off at the Arab League General Secretariat to discuss the implementation of an Arab tourism strategy, according to MENA.
