CAIRO - 7 March 2017: The chief of staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces, Lt. Gen. Mahmoud Hijazi, met with the chairman of the NATO Military Committee, Gen. Petr Pavel, and his accompanying delegation in Cairo Monday to discuss the latest regional and international developments and their impact on stability and security in the Middle East, according to an Armed Forces press release.


The meeting witnessed an exchange of views on various issues, mainly regarding the situation in Libya, combating terrorism and the significant importance of cooperation and coordination to unite efforts to overcome pressing regional issues.


During the meeting, which included various Armed Forces commanders and other military figures, Hijazi confirmed the depth of relations between Egypt and NATO.


General Pavel commended the wide efforts exerted by Egyptian authorities in fighting radicalism and terrorism, confirming NATO’s support for these efforts.
