CAIRO – 24 November 2017: Egypt's general prosecution reveals that the terrorist attack which targeted Al-Rawdah mosque in North Sinai during the Friday prayers has left 235 dead and 109 injured, according to the latest investigations’ results that are being conducted by the concerned authorities.

Prosecutor General Nabil Sadeq made directives to send senior prosecutors, headed by First Prosecutor of Ismailia Cassation Courts Amr Samy, to hospitals where the wounded eyewitnesses are receiving medical treatment.

“The prosecutors will listen to testimonies of the injured eyewitnesses to determine the attack’s circumstances and take the necessary actions,” according to a statement issued by the Egyptian Prosecution on Friday.

President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi promised the terrorists must be “punished” and Egypt will defeat terrorism.

Arab and foreign leaders condemned the terrorist attack at Al-Rawdah mosque and expressed their support to Egyptian leadership in its combating terrorism campaign.

The Ministry of Health earlier confirmed that 109 were injured in the attack, adding that the injured were transported to Bir al-Abed hospital in North Sinai. The mosque was damaged as a result of the bomb.

Eyewitnesses said that the terrorists set fire to ambulance vehicles cars that belonged to residents and blocked the road in Al-Rawdah Village.

Security and medical sources in the attacked area reported that forces halted traffic on Arish-Qantara Road, and deployed ambulance vehicles to transport the injured to the hospital.
