CAIRO – 7 November 2017: Deputies of Education and Scientific Research Committee at the House of Representatives have supported the proposal of a businessman at the World Youth Forum to establish a separate ministry for scientific research and innovation.

The engineer Ahmed Adel proposed during the session “Entrepreneurship and Innovation: the Youth Shape the Future of the World,” held on Tuesday, to establish a ministry for innovation to focus on the issues of researchers and inventors and to provide the funding needed to implementing their innovations.

Consequently, member of Parliament Hany Abaza at the committee declared that the education committee will draft a law for scientific research in Egypt. He added it would link existing educational and research institutions.

“Industry should pay great attention to scientific research especially because industry in Egypt does not benefit from innovators in developing businesses and providing financial requirements,” added Abaza.

He further explained that when businessmen depend on scientific research it will be pushed forward/ He added that it should be considered as an economic product.

Stakeholders should greatly care for innovations made by young people, whether in schools or in universities, said one of the members of the education committee Magda Nasr.

The WYF highlighted many scientific models discovered by innovators that the Ministry of Education and Scientific Research should be interested in, Nasr said, adding that she would prepare a draft resolution to establish the Ministry of Innovation and Supreme Council for Inventors in Egypt.

Egypt’s first international youth event is set to run until November 10, bringing together 3,000 youth represented by 60 delegations from around the world.

The seven-day gathering witnesses the participation of official youth representatives over 18 years old, leaders of various youth networks, heads of state, media figures and around 250 young Egyptian expats. It is held under the theme "We Need to Talk."

WYF sends a message of peace, prosperity, harmony and love to the entire world. It is considered a strong opportunity for youth globally to communicate with each other.

The idea of holding an international youth conference in Egypt was made during the third National Youth Conference in Ismailia, and it was approved by President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi. In July, the president announced organizing the WYF in Sharm el-Sheikh during the fourth National Youth Conference in Alexandria.
