CAIRO – 28 October 2017: The followers of the official World Youth Forum (WYF) Facebook page exceeded a half million, Gihan Hadidy, director general of the World Youth Forum and a diplomat at the Foreign Ministry, said on Saturday.

Hadidy added that the campaign that was launched to promote the forum on social networking sites is witnessing great interaction at the local and international levels.

She explained that the Facebook page is not limited to the promotional materials of the forum, but contains information sections on the most important themes that will be addressed during sessions of the forum. They will discuss poverty, climate change and refugee issues.

The official website of the Forum also comes at the top of Google search engine, she added.

The hashtag #WeNeedToTalk circulated on social media platforms Facebook and Twitter, as it is considered a reflection of Egypt's cultural message regarding the importance of dialogue between different peoples and cultures.

WYF is set to kick off from November 4-10 under the auspices of President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi and will take place in Sharm El-Sheikh. Famous Egyptian actor Ahmed Helmy and the prominent Tunisian star Hend Sabry are expected to participate in the forum.

The forum will bring together 3,000 young people, represented by 60 delegations from across the world, in an effort to explore key issues facing young people and determine their role in implementing global development goals and in combating terrorism.

The seven-day gathering will witness the participation of official youth representatives that are over 18 years old, leaders of various youth networks, head of states, media figures and around 250 young Egyptian expats.
