CAIRO– 19 October 2017: Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and his Portuguese counterpart Augusto Santos Silva on Thursday praised the deep-rooted relations binding both countries in various fields.

As well, they revealed that they have inked a number of MoUs during the Egyptian-Portuguese joint committee meetings.

The remarks were made during a joint press conference they held at the closing of the Egyptian-Portuguese joint committee meetings that were held on Thursday under the co-chairmanship of Egyptian and Portuguese foreign ministers in Cairo.

Shoukry affirmed that the political will of both countries drives the two sides to hold more consultations and to build further communications to tackle joint issues.

He noted that during the meetings, they discussed bilateral relation in all fields, underlining Portugal's continued support for Egypt.

He affirmed that Egypt and Portugal have common viewpoints regarding situations in the Middle East.

Shoukry expressed hope over fostering relations with Portugal and coordinating with it on issues of mutual concern.
