Iraqi President calls for dialogue with Kurdish leadership

CAIRO - 17 October 2017: Iraqi president Fuad Masum called for an urgent dialogue between the Kurdish leadership and the Iraqi government to resolve the secession crisis, Reuters reported Tuesday.

Masum is himself a Kurd and holds a largely ceremonial role in the Iraqi state where most power lies with the prime minister who belongs to the Shi'ite majority.

His speech was broadcast on state TV.
