Egypt exports seedlings to UAE, mushroom to Saudi Arabia

CAIRO – 11 October 2017: The Ministry of Agriculture approved exporting 270,000 fruit seedlings, including 70,000 fresh strawberry seedlings to the United Arab Emirates, in addition to exporting 100 kilogram of mushrooms to Saudi Arabia.

Mahmoud Atta, head of the Central Department of Horticulture and Agricultural Crops in the Ministry of Agriculture said on Wednesday that all exported products are up to international safety and hygiene standards, as per the directives of the Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Abdel Moneim al-Banna.

Technical procedures are properly done to ensure that the quality of the products is not adversely affected.

Saudi Arabian and UAE’s markets are among Egypt’s top export destinations. Three memoranda of understanding between Egypt and the UAE were signed worth $40 million. On the sidelines of the signing, Kabil pointed out that Siwa’s Dates Festival aims to establish further value for the production of dates.

Furthermore, he also announced that new markets have been opened such as U.S., Indonesia, Malaysia, China, and Morocco markets.
