CAIRO - 6 October 2017: Arab Parliament Speaker Mishaal bin Fahm al Salami on Thursday said he is looking for Tanzanian support to call off first Israel-Africa summit set for Togo in October.

In a statement, Salami said he believes that the Tanzanian parliament will spare no effort to support the legitimate right of the Palestinian people.

According to the statement, the request was delivered in a message to Tanzanian National Assembly Speaker Job Ndugai.

Earlier in September, the president of Togo announced delay of the summit which was billed as an attempt by Israel to affect African countries’ stance on the Palestinian cause.

Salami asserted Israel attempts in vain to divide African countries to continue its aggression and apartheid policy against the Palestinian people.

Israel is the only country in the world that occupies other people’s land, persecute innocent people putting them under siege and enforce them to immigrate, the statement said.
