CAIRO – 2 October 2017: The Palestinian Businessmen Association (PBA) in the Gaza Strip raised a large picture of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and his Palestinian counterpart, Mahmoud Abbas, in the center of Gaza City opposite the Palestinian cabinet building.
This step came to show gratitude and recognition to Egypt's role in ending a decade long Palestinian internal division and promoting reconciliation between Fatah and Hamas.

Hamas announced on September 17 the dissolution of the administrative committee in the Gaza Strip, and invited the national consensus government to assume its duties and hold general elections. The movement affirmed it would comply with the Social Reconciliation Accord signed in 2011 with Fatah in Cairo.
On Monday morning, the Consensus Government led by Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah arrived to the Gaza Strip and Hamas officially handed over the Gaza Strip administration to the government following an agreement reached between both Palestinian factions in Cairo in September.
