CAIRO – 9 September 2017: Commenting on the misreporting of the phone call between the Saudi Crown Prince and the Qatari Emir by Qatar News Agency (QNA), Bahraini Foreign Minister Khaled Bin Ahmed indirectly described the Qatari regime as a hypocrite in a tweet on Saturday.

Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz received a phone call on Friday from the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, who expressed his willingness to discuss the demands of the Anti-Terrorism Quartet (ATQ).

Saudi Arabia halted the discussions a few hours after Tamim’s call, accusing QNA of falsifying the content of the phone call, as it reported that the Saudi Crown Prince proposed that Qatar assign "two envoys to resolve controversial issues in a way that does not affect the sovereignty of the states," which was denied by the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Bin Ahmed subsequently tweeted a religious text belonging to Islam’s Prophet Mohamed saying that there are three characteristics pertinent to hypocrites, which are lying, breaking promises and betrayal.

On June 5, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain cut diplomatic ties with Qatar over its support for terrorism. Other states have followed, including Yemen, Libya, Maldives, Comoros, Mauritania, Djibouti and Chad.
