CAIRO – 8 September 2017: The law enforcement forces of the Third Army Field Forces managed to arrest two takfiris deemed “very dangerous” in Central Sinai, and they impounded two vehicles loaded with narcotic drugs on Friday, according to military spokesman Colonel Tamer El Refai.

This came within the armed forces’ ongoing counter-terrorism operations aiming at eliminating terrorists and takfiri elements in Sinai, and to eradicate their breeding grounds and hotbeds.

North Sinai has specifically been a staging ground for militants operating in Egypt for decades. It is also home to the Islamic State’s Egyptian branch, which has been primarily targeting Christians and security forces in the area.
