CAIRO – 28 August 2017: China, which is hosting the upcoming BRICS summit, invited the leaders of five non-member states to attend. Those are Guinea, Mexico, Thailand, Tajikistan, and Egypt, the Russian ambassador to China Andrei Denisov told press on Monday.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi invited President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi to attend the BRICS summit in China’s Xiamen city in September 2017. The BRICS association founded in 2006 includes Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.

This summit seeks to introduce China's vision on advancing the BRICS cooperation process during its presidency to leaders of the other four member countries. The BRICS’s main theme is “BRICS: Stronger Partnership for a Brighter Future.”

President Sisi visited China last September, at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart to attend the 70th anniversary of Chinese victory in World War II.
