CAIRO – 26 August 2017: A number of schools based in the United States (US) are allegedly receiving funds from Qatar International Foundation. American citizens have expressed concerns regarding this issue, the Wall Street Journal reported.

The foundation, based in Washington and headed by the wife of the former Emir of Qatar Sheikha Moza bint Nasser has spent about $ 30.6 million over the past eight years on dozens of schools in New York to Oregon to promote programs to teach Arabic, including paying salaries, training teachers and buying necessary materials.

Two years ago, Houston activist Sam Herrera arranged a protest in the city over the opening of a public Arab school funded by the Qatar Foundation. The US activist expressed concern about the institution's relationship with the Qatari government, which supports terrorist groups such as the Muslim Brotherhood group.

On 5 June, Egypt, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), United Arab of Emirates (UAE) and Bahrain have suspended diplomatic ties with Qatar due to accusations of supporting terrorism.
