CAIRO – 18 August 2017: Ambassador Ahmed Ismail, Egyptian ambassador in the Spanish capital Madrid, said that there is no information to suggest any Egyptians were killed during the Barcelona attack on Thursday.

The Egyptian ambassador said to “On Live” channel that Spain has raised its alert to level four, and the Egyptian embassy will continue to follow up with the government.

Nearly 13 were killed and more than 80 injured in Las Ramblas when a van rammed into pedestrians. Police are treating the incident as a terror attack, as the Islamic State (IS) have claimed responsibility.

On the other hand, Egypt condemns in the strongest possible terms the attack that hit Barcelona's famous Las Ramblas tourist area and claimed lives of a number of innocent people. In its statement, the Foreign Ministry offered condolences to the families of the victims of the attack.
