CAIRO – 11 August 2017: Minister of Solidarity Ghada Wali announced compensations worth LE 50,000 ($2,813) for each family of the victims who perished in Alexandria’s train collision that took place earlier Friday.

A total of 36 people were killed and more than 100 were injured when the two passenger trains, one coming from Cairo and another coming from Port Said, collided.

Egyptian Attorney-General Nabil Sadek immediately ordered the commencement of an inquiry into the deadly accident.
