CAIRO – 11 August 2017: UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar al-Gargash affirmed on Friday that the Arabs’ problem is only with the Doha regime and not the Qatari people.

On his Twitter account, Gargash commented on the visit of Iraqi cleric Muqtada al-Sadr to Saudi Arabia at the end of July.

Iranian media’s criticism of Muqtada al-Sadr's visit to Saudi Arabia highlights the need to continue to open up to Iraq. The road is rugged, but the Arab dimension requires it [opening relations with Iraq],” Gargash said on his official Twitter account.

Gargash asserted that the communication between Arab countries is essential in this stage and that the role of Riyadh is pivotal. “The scene is complex, but it will not be difficult in the face of a common approach that supports the stability and prosperity of Iraq,” he added.

On June 5, a number of Arab countries, including Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Bahrain, cut all diplomatic and transport ties with Qatar over accusations of funding terrorist groups in the region.

The Arab quartet issued 13 demands to Doha, including closing Al Jazeera television, curbing relations with Iran and shutting down a Turkish military base.
