OIC allocates $26 million to support Palestinians

CAIRO/JEDDAH - 9 August 2017: Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Yousef Bin Ahmed Al Othaimeen said that the OIC's Islamic Solidarity Fund for Development (ISFD) funded, since its launch in 1976, several social, cultural, economic, educational, and healthcare projects in Palestine with an estimated cost of $26.939 million to support the steadfastness and struggle of the Palestinian people.

The OIC's General Secretariat said that the ISFD supported the Palestinian people during disasters, calamities and catastrophes with $18.155 million and constructed mosques, schools and hospitals with a total amount of $4.577 million.

The ISFD allocated $1.655 million to develop universities and research centers in Palestine, and about $2.552 million to Islamic, cultural, social and recreational centers.

The General Secretariat stated that the Palestinian cause is the OIC's main concern, calling on the member states to support the ISFD's activities so that it fulfills its duties towards Palestine.
