CAIRO – 31 July 2017: Foreign interventions negatively affected Egyptian-Sudanese relations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Ahmed Abu Zeid said on Monday.

In a phone interview with ON TV, Abu Zeid stated that relations between Sudan and Egypt are special and require their foreign ministers to keep channels of communication and consultation constantly open between the two countries.

He added that the main aim of the periodic and continuous meetings between the Egyptian and Sudanese foreign ministers is to maintain coordination, consultation and communication th to follow up the joint and mutual interests of both countries.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry will arrive in Khartoum Wednesday to participate in the meetings of the second edition of the Sudanese-Egyptian Committee for Political Consultation.

The Sudanese capital will host the second edition of the Sudanese-Egyptian Committee for Political Consultation, headed by Shoukry and his Sudanese counterpart, Ibrahim Ghandour, on Thursday, August 3.

The meetings will discuss bilateral relations between the two countries and the outcomes of the Sudanese-Egyptian Presidential Committee for Cooperation held in October in Cairo, said Sudanese Foreign Ministry spokesman Qareebullah al-Khader.

“The meetings of the second edition of the Sudanese-Egyptian Committee for Political Consultation are a step that completes what the two ministries have started for the promotion of bilateral cooperation programs in different fields,” said Khader.
