FM discusses bilateral relations and regional developments with Emirati counterpart

CAIRO – 9 June 2026: Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Abroad, Badr Abdelatty, held a phone call on Tuesday with Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates.

The call was part of ongoing consultations between the two brotherly countries regarding regional developments and issues of mutual interest.

The two ministers discussed ways to enhance Egyptian-Emirati cooperation across various fields and emphasized the importance of building on the strategic partnership and close coordination between their countries, reflecting the depth of their fraternal ties and shared interests.

The call also included an exchange of views on key regional developments, most notably the Iranian crisis. The two sides reviewed the course of the U.S.-Iran negotiations and the efforts underway to reach an agreement, as well as initiatives aimed at de-escalating tensions and strengthening security and stability across the region.

In a related context, the ministers discussed the latest developments concerning the Palestinian issue and the efforts being made to implement President Trump's peace plan.

They also reviewed developments in Lebanon, stressing the importance of supporting Lebanese state institutions and preserving the country's security and stability. In addition, the two ministers discussed developments in Sudan, the efforts of the Quartet in this regard, and ongoing initiatives to support stability and advance prospects for a political settlement.

The two ministers agreed to continue close consultations and coordination between their countries on various regional issues in a manner that supports regional security and stability and advances their common interests.
