CAIRO - 9 June 2026: Egypt’s Law No. 29 of 2023, regulating the possession of dangerous animals and dogs, stipulates specific rules for dog owners when taking their pets outside of their shelters.

Article 12 of the law states that dogs must be muzzled and leashed with a suitable collar to ensure control while walking them or taking them outside their shelters.

The law also requires that the owner must be at least 18 years old.

The law imposes a fine ranging from LE 10,000 to 500,000 on anyone who violates these provisions in order to ensure public safety and protection for citizens.
