CAIRO - 20 May 2025: During the inauguration of the new factory of SE Wiring Systems Egypt S.A.E., a subsidiary of Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems Europe, a subsidiary of Sumitomo Corporation, which was attended Tuesday by Egypt's Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouli.
 
Mr. Fumio Iwai, the Ambassador of Japan to Cairo, delivered a speech in which he emphasized that the inauguration of the Sumitomo factory is a significant achievement in the company's expansion in Egypt.
 
Ambassador Iwai pointed out that the establishment of this massive factory by a Japanese company not only represents a successful example of Japanese investment abroad but is also closely aligned with Egypt's strategic efforts to boost local production.
 
The Japanese Ambassador added, "Sumitomo has made a significant contribution to Egypt's industrial sector through its existing factories in Port Said and 10th of Ramadan City."
 
He further said, "The inauguration of this new factory enhances the company's production capacity, creates approximately 2,000 new job opportunities, and contributes to increasing local economic growth rates by expanding the company's export capabilities to Europe."
 
In the same context, the Japanese Ambassador added: "I recognize that this achievement would not have been possible without the strong support provided by the Egyptian government.
 
"In this regard, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, Lieutenant General Kamel El-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, Eng. Hassan El-Khatib, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, and all members of the Egyptian government for their valuable efforts in facilitating the procedures for this important project. I am confident that the Egyptian government will continue to provide its strong support for the localization of the automotive industry," he added. 
 
The Japanese Ambassador also said that Sumitomo is a global leader with advanced technological capabilities. Transferring these technologies to local Egyptian employees "will not only provide job opportunities but will also play a vital role in enhancing the technical competence of the Egyptian workforce."
 
Amb. Iwai emphasized that Japan is a committed partner in Egypt's economic development. "In this context, we anticipate continued cooperation between the two sides on a number of important opportunities over the next few months to strengthen our economic relationship," he added.
 
The Ambassador also emphasized that Egypt is and will remain a valuable and important partner for Japan, and that Japan will remain committed to supporting development in Egypt through close cooperation between our public and private sectors.
