CAIRO – 19 April 2025: Iran and the United States have concluded another round of “constructive” indirect nuclear talks, with a third meeting scheduled for next week, said Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Saturday.

Araghchi said he and US Middle East Envoy Steve Witkoff held four hours of indirect talks at the Embassy of Oman in the Italian capital, Rome.

He noted an upcoming meeting for technical experts in the coming days before the third round of negotiations set to take place on 26 April in Oman.

The US-Iran talks on Tehran's nuclear program come as both the US and Israel are concerned that Iran is seeking to acquire a nuclear weapon.

Iran has enriched uranium significantly beyond the 3.67% threshold established under the 2015 nuclear agreement, from which the US withdrew in 2018 during US President Donald Trump’s first term.

Trump has threatened military action against Iran if nuclear talks fail, indicating that Israel could be “the leader” of such an attack.

"Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon, and if the talks aren't successful, I believe it will be a very bad day for Iran," Trump stated in the Oval Office last week.
