CAIRO - 8 April 2025: The Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population announced that Egypt is the first country in the world to achieve the Gold Tier status in eliminating Hepatitis C.

This achievement comes based on the World Health Organization criteria on the path to eradication of HCV.

The Egyptian Health Ministry added that this comes as a result of the community survey, the efforts of the President's initiative to eradicate Hepatitis C, and the early detection of non-communicable diseases.

Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, emphasized President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's commitment to the health of citizens and alleviating the economic burdens borne by Egyptian families.

Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, explained that health systems globally and regionally are facing rapid changes and successive crises that require preparedness, rapid adaptation, and flexibility, while achieving justice and efficiency to meet the health needs of communities, in implementation of the goals of health security and universal health coverage.

This highlights the role of the concept of economics applied to the field of health, known as "health economics," at a time when the world is witnessing rapid changes that impact health funding sources and make optimal management a highly complex process.
