FM discusses Gaza reconstruction plan with counterparts in Arab-Islamic Ministerial Committee

CAIRO – 17 March 2025: Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty discussed on Monday means of implementing the outcomes of the Extraordinary Arab summit held in Cairo and the Gaza reconstruction plan in phone calls with Arab counterparts.

According to a ministry of foreign affairs’ statement, Abdelatty held a series of phone calls with the foreign ministers of the member states of the Arab-Islamic Ministerial Committee, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Jordan, Qatar, Palestine, Turkey, Nigeria, and Indonesia.

During the calls, Abdelatty and the ministers discussed ways to promote the Arab-Islamic plan, activate the work of the Arab-Islamic Ministerial Committee, and conduct the necessary contacts with international parties to mobilize political and material support for the Arab-Islamic plan for early recovery and reconstruction of Gaza.

The ministers also discussed efforts to implement the remaining outcomes of the emergency Arab Summit in Cairo and the emergency Islamic ministerial meeting in Jeddah, and tackled ways of proper preparation and mobilization of support for the Cairo International Conference expected to be held for the Reconstruction of Gaza Strip.

On March 4, Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi chaired the Extraordinary Arab Summit, held upon the request of Palestine in the New Administrative Capital, to discuss developments of the Palestinian issue and means to support the Palestinian people.

In his opening speech President El-Sisi addressed the Arab leaders attending the Summit, “Today, we are united by a painful reality, in light of the enormous challenges facing our region, which are almost destroying regional security and stability, dissipating what remains of the foundations of Arab national security, threatening stable Arab countries, and seizing Arab lands from their owners, without any legal or religious basis.”

President El-Sisi said that Egypt, in cooperation with Palestine and international institutions, worked to formulate a ‘comprehensive and integrated plan for Gaza reconstruction without displacing Palestinians, starting with urgent relief operations and leading to the process of rebuilding the strip.

President El-Sisi called upon all countries to adopt the comprehensive plan and mobilize regional and international support for it.
