CAIRO – 26 July 2017: New high-tech bus fares will go up from LE 5 to LE 10, according to the public relations manager of the privately-owned “Mouslat Masr“ Abass Al-Laqtan said on Wednesday.
“The goal of increasing the ticket price is to encourage people to take the new buses’ relevant electronic pay cards that offer a fixed charge of LE 6 per day,” Laqtan added.
“Buses’ pay cards are slated to be on offer to people through soon-to-be kiosks in popular bus stops,” he said, adding that persons with disabilities and students will get discounted ticket prices.
In adherence to the government vision to curb congestion and lessen air pollution, new high- tech buses have been hitting the streets of Cairo since early July and more vehicles are expected to be added to the fleet at the beginning of August.
The new buses are equipped with Wi-Fi, air conditioner, USB sockets and camera covering all angles of the bus for the security of commuters.
