CAIRO – 1 March 2025: The Board of Trustees of the Egyptian Zakat and Charity House luanched on Saturday the annual “Iftar Saem” (Fast Breaking) program, with providing 3,000 meals for Iftar for those fasting of the Al-Azhar Mosque visitors.
This comes upon the directives of Grand Imam, Prof. Dr. Ahmed El-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, and the Chairman of the Board of Trustees.
At Al Azhar Mosque, students from more than 120 countries around the world gather at this mass breakfast, recite the Noble Quran, eat food and exchange discussions.
Yesterday evening, On the first night of the holy month of Ramadan, Egyptians performed Taraweeh prayer at Al Azhar Mosque in the old Cairo. Taraweeh is a congregational prayer performed after the Ishaa (night) prayer during the holy month.
Cairo’s historic Al-Azhar mosque was the first artistic architectural building constructed by the Fatimids, the Islamic dynasty that ruled Egypt, North Africa and parts of the Arabian Peninsula from the tenth to the twelfth centuries. Construction began in 972 A.D. which corresponds to the seventh day of Ramadan and was renovated 300 years later, according to a statement by the Egypt History website.
