Egyptian, Jordanian ministers talk plan to preserve Red Sea environment

CAIRO - 20 February 2025: Egyptian Minister of Environment and Chairperson of the 20th session of the Ministerial Council of the Regional Organization for the Conservation of the Environment of the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden (PRSGA) Dr. Yasmine Fouad, held a bilateral meeting with Dr. Moawia Khaled Al-Radaideh, Jordanian Minister of Environment, to discuss a number of common environmental issues between the two countries.

Both ministers also reviewed the latest developments in the organization's work plan under Egypt's presidency, the future plan, and developments in global environmental issues, on the sidelines of her participation in the 21st session of the Ministerial Council meeting of the Regional Organization for the Conservation of the Environment of the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, in the Jordanian city of Aqaba, to hand over the presidency of the Ministerial Council of the organization to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, in the presence of the Ministers of Environment of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Somalia, and Djibouti.

During the meeting, Dr. Yasmine Fouad expressed her appreciation for the fruitful cooperation between Egypt and Jordan in a number of environmental fields.

She further stressed that this cooperation reflects the depth of relations between the two countries and their common keenness to protect natural resources and achieve sustainable development, praising the joint efforts in facing environmental challenges, especially in the areas of preserving biodiversity, ecotourism, combating pollution, and adapting to climate change.

She also ensured the importance of continuing to exchange expertise and strengthening environmental partnerships between the two countries, which contributes to achieving regional and international goals to protect the marine environment and achieve sustainability.
