CAIRO – 18 February 2025: Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, will review the government’s position regarding the United States President Donald Trump plan on the Gaza Strip and the Middle East conflict on March 12.
According to Europa Press, the Spanish official was summoned to the parliament per ERC, Bildu and BNG request.
It was also stated that the specific date was announced shortly following a request from the Executive's partners, considering that the intentions of the US President and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to expel the residents of Gaza and occupy the Palestinian territories ‘must be responded to forcefully’ by the government with the rest of the European Union countries and the international community ‘to stop the plan of ethnic cleansing’ that they intend to implement, according to their statement.
Egypt announced on February 11 its intention to present an integrated vision for the reconstruction of Gaza in a way that ensures the remaining of Palestinian people on their land and preserve their legitimate and legal rights.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Egypt expressed its aspiration to cooperate with the US administration led by President Trump in order to reach a comprehensive and just peace in the region, by reaching a just settlement to the Palestinian issue that takes into account the rights of the peoples of the region.
Egypt also stressed that any vision for resolving the Palestinian issue should take into account avoiding ‘endangering the gains of peace in the region’.
The statement stated that this also should be in parallel with seeking to contain and deal with the causes and roots of the conflict by ending the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian land, and implementing the two-state solution as the only way to achieve stability and coexistence among the peoples of the region.
