Qatari people pay heavy price for Tamim’s hard-headedness

CAIRO – 20 July 2017:“Since the Arab countries severed ties withQatar, Prices unprecedentedly jacked up to ten times,”prominent Qatari opposition figure Khaled El-Heel claimed on Thursday.

“Qatari people are suffering amid the mounting prices due to Tamim’s actions,” Heel added.

“Qatar is willing onlyto settle its dispute with Saudi Arabia and not giving a rat's tail about Egypt and the UnitedArab Emirates since it is well-aware of thepower of the Saudi Arabia’s economic influence,“ Heel said, adding that Saudi Arabia has long been patient with Qatar which he claims seeks to topple Saudi's regime.

Agreeing with Heel, Mokhtar El-Sherif, the economics expert said on Friday that the price hike in Qatar has negatively impacted investment, and would scare off foreign investors out of Doha.

Qatar has been immersed in an economic slump since June 5, 2017 after Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates along with Egypt and Bahrain decided to sever diplomatic and trade relations with Doha, closing their mutual land borders and air spaces.

The neighboring Arab states decision came after accusations of Qatar’s support for terrorismsurfaced.
