CAIRO – 18 July 2017: Sameh Shoukry will visit Baghdad on Wednesday in an official visit to discuss bilateral relations and common regional and international issues, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ahmed Abu Zeid said on Tuesday.

Abu Zeid added that Shoukry’s visit to the Capital of Iraq will focus on cooperation between the two countries in counterterrorism and extremism efforts.

Shourky will meet with Iraqi President Fuad Masum, Vice President Ayad Allawy, Prime Minister Haidar Al-Abadi, Parliament Speaker Salim Al-Jabouri, former Prime Minister Ibrahim Al-Jaafari and other senior officials.

A strategic dialogue session on the foreign ministers’ level will be held, Abu Zeid stressed. Shoukry will congratulate the Iraqi government on the occasion of liberation of Mosul.

Egypt will express its readiness to contribute in the rebuilding and reconstruction of Iraqi cities, Abu Zeid said.

He indicated that the Supreme Egyptian-Iraqi committee shall be reactivated and be chaired by the two countries’ prime ministers. “The first session of this committee will be held in Baghdad soon,” Abu Zeid manifested.
