Cairo - 4 April 2023: The cabinet media center denied reports that the Supply and Internal Trade Ministry is giving financial grants worth EGP 2,500 for citizens in return for registering their data on the ministry's website.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the media center said it has contacted the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade which denied such reports and termed them as "groundless".

It also reiterated that all types of financial grants and exceptional aids are announced via the ministry's website www.msit.gov.eg with a range between EGP 100 to EGP 300 which are benefiting more than 10 million families registered on the ration cards' system till June 30, 2023.

The Ministry urged citizens not to be dragged behind any fake news and not to send their personal data to any body.

The media center also urged media outlets and social media followers to be accurate in spreading news in order to avoid stir up the public opinion, adding that in case of any complains citizens should report to the Consumers Protection Authority via its hotline 19588.
