CAIRO – 23 March 2023: Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry called the Arab foreign ministers, and Secretary General of the League of Arab States Ahmed Aboul Gheit on Wednesday, to greet them on the arrival of the blessed holy month of Ramadan.

"During the calls, the foreign minister expressed his sincere wishes for the Arab and Islamic peoples to enjoy stability and prosperity," said Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ahmed Abu Zeid in a statement.

Also, Shoukry called on Wednesday his Turkish counterpart Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, to greet him on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan.

The Foreign Ministry spokesman added that the two ministers exchanged sincere wishes that the holy month would be blessed for the Egyptian and Turkish peoples, and that the two countries would enjoy lasting stability and prosperity.

Five days ago, Cavusoglu said in a press conference held in Cairo with Shoukry that there are moves to upgrade diplomatic representation between the two countries, stating that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will visit President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi during the coming period.

“Restoring bilateral relations between both countries after a period of coldness requires a great effort and political will to regain momentum in relations,” Cavusoglu said.
