CAIRO – 22 February 2023: Egypt has denounced the storming of the Palestinian Nablus city in the West Bank, warning of the dangerous and continued escalation witnessed by the Palestinian lands recently.

In a statement by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday, Egypt condemned the storming of the Palestinian city, which has caused the death of ten Palestinian victims and the injury of hundred others so far.

“Egypt has expressed its deep concern regarding the dangerous and continued escalation witnessed by the occupied Palestinian lands recently,” the statement said.

The ministry warned that such escalation exacerbates and complicates the situation day after day and undermines efforts to achieve calm between the Palestinian and Israeli sides.

The Israeli escalation also affects the chances of reviving the peace process on the basis on the international legitimacy resolutions and the two-state solution, the ministry added.

An Israeli military raid in Nablus on Wednesday has claimed the lives of 10 people and left more than 100 people injured, according to officials.

The Israel occupation forces claimed that the raid aimed at detaining Palestinian militants responsible for West Bank shootings.

The Palestinian Presidency held the Israeli government responsible for the escalation following the raid.

Egypt has repeatedly warned of the Israeli escalation in the Palestinian lands and its negative repercussions on the security and stability in the occupied lands and the region and on the future of the peace process.

Egypt has called on the Israeli and Palestinian parties to exercise self-restraint, act responsibly and refrain from any measures that could inflame the situation.

The Israeli forces have been blamed for bloody escalation in the Palestinian West Bank over the past months, including a deadly raid on Jenin camp, which killed nine Palestinians.

The Israeli raids in the West Bank over the past months have claimed the lives of around 200 Palestinians and led to the arrest of at least 2,600 others, reported the Associated Press.

Shortly after the Jenin raid, a Palestinian man opened fire outside a synagogue in Jerusalem, killing seven people.
