CAIRO – 29 January 2023: Egypt’s House of Representatives approved a presidential decree permitting an agreement for Egypt to join the New Development Bank (NDB) affiliated with the BRICS bloc.
 
“Egypt should become the ninth member of the NDB, now that parliament has approved President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s decision,” the state-owned news agency MENA reported.
 
The decree was referred to a a joint specialized committee on January 15 to consider it.
 
Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Turkey are planning to join the BRICS bloc (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa), Russian newspaper Izvestia reported President of the BRICS International Forum Purnima Anand in In July 2022. 
 
This could be announced during the coming summit due in 2023, the newspaper added.
