CAIRO – 29 December 2022: Egypt’s Minister of Interior Mahmoud Tawfik ordered on Thursday maximum degree of vigilance and security during the New Year celebrations and upcoming feasts of Christian citizens.

Tawfik held a meeting with a number of his aides and security leaders via video to review security plans during the coming period.

During the meeting, Tawfik ordered raising security level to the maximum, intensifying security efforts, and activating all required measures to secure vital institutions, worship places, and tourist facilities.

He also affirmed the need for activating measures to tighten control over roads leading to these institutions using modern techniques and supporting security services in the surrounding areas.

Tawfik affirmed that security personnel in charge of securing these installations must be fully prepared and highly efficient so that they can deal with various possible situations.

He ordered spreading security patrols across all roads and axes in a way that helps them contain any urgent situation and adopting sustainable plans for the deployment of forces.

The minister highlighted the importance of dealing with citizens taking into consideration the humanitarian dimension while implementing the security plans.

He also ordered personnel to decisively deal with threats to the security of the homeland and citizens within the framework of the legal frameworks.
