CAIRO - 8 November 2022: Head of the Libyan Presidential Council Mohamed el-Manfi praised Egypt's efforts under the directions of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, saying: “I salute and thank President Sisi for the good preparation of the conference and the warm welcome of the attendees to the safe land of Egypt.”

Egypt hosts COP27 at a time when the world is increasingly moving towards division and conflict, "while the environmental danger reminds us that humanity faces common challenges that require the abandonment of differences, and unified and serious work to save the earth," Manfi said.

"Although Libya is facing a political crisis and needs to work locally, we are concerned with the environmental aspect," Manfi explained in his speech, stressing that Libya abides by international programs and treaties and supports participation in them.

Last February, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with the head of the Libyan Presidential Council,Mohamed Al-Manfi, in Brussels, discussing the developments of the situation in Libya and efforts to restore security and stability in the country.

President El-Sisi confirmed Egypt's full support for the current political path to settle the Libyan crisis at all bilateral, regional and international fora, and its keenness to enhance close coordination with Libya at the current time to implement the free will of the brotherly Libyan people, said Spokesperson for the Presidency Bassam Rady in a statement.

The head of the Libyan Presidential Council expressed his sincere appreciation for Egypt’s genuine support for his country, within the framework of the extended and brotherly relations binding the two countries and peoples, Rady said.

Manfi also valued Egypt’s diligent efforts led by the President to support Libya, particularly its contribution to restoring the national institutions and unifying Libya’s national army. This is in addition to the vital Egyptian supportive role at the international level for the current political track in Libya, Rady continued.
