CAIRO - 8 nOVEMBER 2022: In a special interview with CNN on Tuesday, Foreign Minister and Head of COP 27 Sameh Shoukry asserted that Egypt wants to see a clear commitment towards reducing global warming gases and emissions and the adaptation of developing countries with the climate change in addition to providing finance necessary to empower these countries to shoulder responsibility.

Shoukry said that he is concerned about the delay of some countries to fulfill their duties, adding that this has a negative impact.

On listing an item for losses and damages on the agenda of COP 27, Shoukry said that listing this item is an accomplishment, adding that we should have think practically and be sure that within a timeline all parties will be able to reach an understanding on the mechanism of providing finance to the developing countries in relation to issue of damage and losses.

"We are confident that within a specified period of time the two parties will be able to reach an understanding on the financing mechanism that will provide assistance to developing countries on the issue of loss and damage,” Shoukry added.
